The Weal and Woe is a New York-based country/Americana quartet. In January 2012 the band released a seven-song EP titled "The One To Blame," recorded and co-produced by Emmy-nominated artist Rench (Gangstagrass). New York Music Daily writes, "The guy/girl close harmonies of guitarist Russell Scholl and bassist Barbara Ann have an unaffected southern charm, soaring over an early 1950s style backdrop with fiddle, lap steel and occasional resonator guitar. Ex-Moonlighter Mark Deffenbaugh's lap steel playing is absolutely off the hook." Rounded out by fiddler extraordinaire Jason Cade, the band plays a tasteful mix of classic and original country / roots music.
