About 2 Week Sugar Skull Workshop for Adults
Come help prepare for Dia De Los Muertos, the Mexican holiday honoring the dead. Families believe that the gates of heaven are opened at midnight on October 31st, and the spirits of all deceased children are allowed to reunite with their families for 24 hours.
In preparation for this holiday, families make sugar skulls to decorate alters to honor their dead relatives. Learn how to make these skulls in a two-part workshop. This workshop will show you how to make a variety of sugar skulls and how to decorate them.
Making of the sugar skulls requires two days. The first day we will color and mold the sugar. A week later we will have the second workshop, where we will use sugar based food coloring gels, flowers & gems to decorate the sugar skulls.
We will be working with food coloring gels that stain so please be aware that it may stain your hands and clothes. Please RSVP if you are attending both or just one workshop. There is limited space so first come first serve.
