About ZydeGroove
ZydeGroove lead by accordion player Laren Droll, wants fans to let their hair down, relax, and move their feet to an infectious beat. This group of long-time friends and compatriots share a common enthusiasm for Louisiana music and culture, and their performances have a warm, welcoming, and playful sound perfect for exposing zydeco music to all comers! With deep roots in traditional country zydeco, the band has drawn inspiration from Louisiana greats Boozoo Chavis, Delton Broussard, Preston Frank and many others. Laren Droll's unmannered vocals and strong accordion playing is backed up by the exceptional New Orleans funk-rhythm guitarist Chris Cross. Putting the groove in ZydeGroove is Danny Birnbaum on upright bass along with Zydeco dancer/Rubboard player Maggie McManus, while drummer Steve Samuels adds his own 'secret sauce' to the mix.
