About Sam Newsome
Soprano saxophonist Sam Newsome has been recently performing as a solo jazz recitalist, pursuing the challenging Steve Lacy-esque path of playing unaccompanied. He has just released his second solo saxophone CD, Blue Soliloquy, on which he explores the inner depths of the instrument's sonic terrain. Jazz critic Howard Mandel says, "Sam Newsome's Blue Soliloquy is music of significant yet subtle accomplishment." On February 27 at 10:30 PM, Mr. Newsome will perform solo pieces from Blue Soliloquy as well as works for his saxophone trio.
